A smart healthcare assistant that helps patients understand their medical consultations

About the project

Most patients struggle to understand the essential information presented during medical consultations and forget up to 80% of the information they receive from medical professionals. Jaxe was created to address this challenge. Jaxe is an AI assistant that helps patients understand their medical consultations. The assistant summarises and explains information provided via audio recording and helps patients understand their diagnosis and treatment.

A qualitative and iterative research methodology was followed, meaning concepts were evaluated with potential users and insights from the user tests guided the improvements for the following iteration. Three iterations of the prototype took place.

This project was done in collaboration with Axelle Vanden Eynde and Marie Goldschmidt. During this project my role included: problem identification, academic research, concept development, UX and UI design, prototyping and user testing, and evaluation and iteration.
